How long does it take to complete a builder’s licence course?
There’s no doubt that getting builder qualifications can be a strenuous process, but with our builder’s licence course, it can also be a satisfying one depending on your skillset. Generally, the duration of our course is heavily dependent on what prior experience you already possess and can take up to two to four years.
Completing a builder’s licence course is just one of the many steps to becoming an established builder, and the course length is heavily dependent on what state you live in and their specific application and eligibility requirements.
For example, some states require both a CPC40120 Certificate IV in Construction and Building and a CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building), and these two combined can take up about two years of full-time learning (which is equivalent to eight terms). Some states only require the certificate as part of their criteria, which means that you only need to study for one year instead.
As a general rule, it’s best to consult with your local licensing body to see what specific certification and what builder’s licence courses you need to take to work towards your licence. Additionally, there may be specific modules and units that are required, so be sure to consider those before formally applying.
Are there entry requirements for a builder’s licence course?
We recommend that you browse through each program as we’ve listed the specific study requirements as a guide available in our extensive course catalogue.
Some courses require special circumstances, such as an apprenticeship at a construction or work site, which is why we highly stress taking the time to look through our courses.
Some entry requirements you can expect within our select builder’s licence courses are a pre-assessment called the Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment and an English proficiency test, especially for international students applying on a student visa.
However, as long as you’re over 18 years of age and have a history of formal education (at least the completion of Australian Year 11 or 12), there’s most likely a builder’s licence course you can apply for at Everthought.
How to enrol in a builder’s licence course?
At Everthought, you can enrol in builder’s licence courses in just a few steps:
Choose a program that works for you by browsing the course catalogue.
There are a wide variety of programs we offer, from certification programs to short courses, so it’s important to see what we have to offer and then choose the one that interests you most.
For example, if you are already a licensed builder, it wouldn’t make sense for you to enrol in a certificate program for building, but instead, you could take a tiling course to become more specialised in your field.
Note the course details.
Be sure to check the specifics of the program you’ve chosen, as we have campuses in Perth and Queensland as well as blended and online options. Information such as prerequisites, the course structure, and the duration of the course can be found on each course page.
