Police in the North Bondi area have been called to a construction site where it is reported that bones have been found by a worker on the property.

The investigation as to whether the bones belong to a human has begun by police.

The construction worker on the site was clearing away rubbish from the back of the garage when he found what appeared to be bones.

When the discovery was made, the 23 year old alerted his co-workers before calling the police to the block.

Forensic police taped off the entrances to the cavity before collecting bags of evidence from underneath the building’s stairwell.

The construction worker, who did not want to be named, told the ABC that the bones looked like a hand or a foot.

“I was clearing out rubbish and then came across this hand or foot — it was hard to know what it was, but it looked like it was from a human,” he said.

“It was really shocking, I’ve never seen anything like that before. It made me feel sick.”

The bones have since been taken by forensic police for examination as to whether they belong to a person.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
