Meet the technical requirements for your Builder – Open Site Supervisor Licence
You’ve been supervising large-scale construction. Now make it official. Complete these 4 units through RPL and apply for your QBCC Builder – Open Site Supervisor Licence.
Is RPL right for me?
To apply for the QBCC Builder – Open Site Supervisor Licence, you need to demonstrate competency in 4 specific units from the CPC60220 Advanced Diploma of Building and Construction (Management). RPL lets you get those units assessed against your existing experience without sitting through a full course.
If you’ve been working on large-scale, high-rise, or complex building projects in a supervisory or management capacity, there’s a good chance your experience already covers what these units require. RPL assesses that experience against the national standard and fills any gaps with targeted training.
This is your pathway to the QBCC Builder – Open Site Supervisor Licence.
Completing these 4 units is the minimum technical requirement to apply for your QBCC Builder – Open Site Supervisor Licence in Queensland. This licence authorises you to supervise building work across all classes of buildings – including large, high-rise, and complex structures. It’s also recognised as the stepping stone toward the Builder Open contractor licence.

If you still have questions, our team will be happy to help.
It’s a Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) licence that authorises you to supervise building work on all classes of buildings including large, high-rise and complex structures, as an employee of a QBCC-licensed contractor. It’s one of three levels of site supervisor licence available in Queensland.
A Site Supervisor licence allows you to supervise building work as an employee of a licensed contractor. You cannot personally enter into contracts with property owners or developers. A contractor licence is what enables you to run your own building business.
RPL stands for Recognition of Prior Learning. It’s a formal assessment process that evaluates the skills and knowledge you’ve built through real work experience and matches them against the required competency standards. Where your experience covers the requirements, you don’t need to sit through additional training.
Evidence can include project records, employment references, letters from licensed builders or supervisors, and site documentation demonstrating your involvement in large building projects. We’ll guide you through the specifics once we know your background.
Possibly. If your evidence doesn’t fully cover a particular unit’s requirements, targeted gap training will be arranged for that unit only. You won’t repeat anything you’ve already demonstrated.
