Already managing large construction projects? Get your Advanced Diploma through RPL
If you’ve been managing complex projects, high-rise builds, or large commercial works, Advanced Diploma of Building and Construction RPL turns that experience into Australia’s highest-level construction management qualification.Â
Is RPL right for me?
RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) is a formal assessment process that recognises the skills and knowledge you’ve built through real work experience. Instead of sitting in a classroom repeating things you already know, you’re assessed on what you can actually do.
If you’ve been working in senior construction management, overseeing large or complex building projects, managing contractors and budgets, applying building codes and legal requirements, and you don’t yet hold a formal Advanced Diploma, building and construction management RPL is likely the most practical way to get qualified.
Looking to take on unrestricted building work and senior roles?
The CPC60220 Advanced Diploma of Building and Construction (Management) is the top-level qualification in Australian building and construction. It’s the key qualification for the QBCC Builder Open licence in Queensland, allowing you to contract for building projects of any type, height and complexity, with no restrictions. If you’ve been doing the work at this level, RPL is the fastest way to formalise it.
What your advanced diploma unlocks
The CPC60220 Advanced Diploma of Building and Construction (Management) is the highest-level qualification in building and construction. Here’s what it gives you:
- QBCC Builder Open licence:Â the unrestricted Queensland builder’s licence, covering any building type at any height, including high-rise and complex commercial structures
- Builder Open licence in other states:Â supports licence applications across Australia including Commercial Builder registration in Victoria, Builder (General Construction) in Tasmania, and builder registration pathways in WA and NSW for high-rise and complex work
- No restrictions on project scale:Â once licensed, take on residential, commercial, industrial and high-rise projects without limits on height or complexity
- Senior leadership roles: qualify for Construction Manager, Project Manager, and Site Supervisor roles on the largest projects in the country
- Tender for major projects:Â many large commercial contracts and government projects require senior personnel to hold this level of qualification
- Run your own building company:Â get the qualifications needed to operate at the highest level as a licensed open builder
Completing the Advanced Diploma through RPL means you skip unnecessary training and get straight to the credential that matters.
Is RPL a real qualification?
Yes. A CPC60220 Advanced Diploma of Building and Construction (Management) earned through RPL is exactly the same nationally recognised qualification as one completed through traditional study. The certificate does not state it was completed via RPL. It carries the same weight with licensing bodies, including the QBCC, VBA, and Building Commission NSW, employers, and government agencies across Australia.
Advanced Diploma building and construction RPL isn’t a shortcut, it’s an assessment process regulated by ASQA and offered by Everthought Education as a registered training organisation (RTO 32438). What changes is the process, not the outcome. Instead of completing coursework from scratch, your existing skills and experience are assessed against the competency standards. Where gaps exist, gap training fills them in.

The CPC60220 Advanced Diploma of Building and Construction (Management) consists of 10 units of competency, 4 core units and 6 elective units.
