Steel Frame Installation Short Course

Free practical steel frame training in Perth. Over 3 weeks at our Cannington campus, you’ll develop hands-on construction skills, earn nationally recognised units of competency, and pathway into a carpentry apprenticeship or traineeship.

About this course

This short course gives you hands-on experience in steel frame installation, supported by BlueScope Steel and Truecore. You’ll work with industry-standard tools and materials under the guidance of experienced trainers, and walk away with a Statement of Attainment and your White Card.

Selected candidates will also be considered for 4 days of employer placement following the on-campus program, a direct pathway into real work in construction.

This program is fully funded for eligible participants, there is no cost to you.

CPCCWHS2001 — Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry

CPCCOM1012 — Work effectively and sustainably in the construction industry

CPCCCM2006 — Apply basic levelling procedures

CPCCVE1011 — Undertake a basic construction project

CPCCWHS1001 — Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (White Card)

This program is fully funded and free for eligible participants. To qualify you must be:

  • No longer attending school
  • Unemployed, or working less than 20 hours per week

Do I need any prior experience in bricklaying?

No prior experience is needed. This course is built for people entering the construction industry for the first time.

What happens after the 3 weeks?

Successful candidates will be considered for 4 days of employer placement, a chance to work alongside real employers and potentially land an apprenticeship or traineeship in carpentry.
