Get your kitchen, bathroom & laundry builder licence through RPL
If you’ve been fitting out kitchens, bathrooms and laundries for years, your experience could be enough to get you licensed. Through kitchen bathroom laundry RPL, we assess what you already know against the required units.
Is RPL right for me?
RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) is a formal process that assesses your existing skills and experience against the requirements of a nationally recognised qualification. If you’ve been working in kitchen, bathroom and laundry renovations and can demonstrate that experience, you may not need to study from scratch.
Instead of sitting through units you already know, we work through what you’ve done on the job. If there are any gaps, we’ll let you know what gap training looks like before you commit to anything.
Already doing the work, just not licensed to contract for it?
That’s exactly who this kitchen bathroom laundry RPL is for. Whether you’re in Queensland or New South Wales, we’ll help you work out if your experience is enough to get you licensed.
What your licence unlocks
In Queensland and New South Wales, you need a licence to legally contract for kitchen, bathroom and laundry renovation work. Without one, you can’t quote for jobs, advertise your services, or take on work above the threshold, even if you’ve been doing it for years.
- Queensland The QBCC Builder Restricted to Kitchen, Bathroom and Laundry licence covers installation, refurbishment, restoration and repair work in Class 1 and 10 buildings, and in Classes 2–9 where the kitchen, bathroom or laundry area is not more than 50m². Any renovation work valued over $3,300 requires this licence. Without it, you’re exposed to QBCC penalties.
- New South Wales NSW Fair Trading issues the Contractor Licence Kitchen, Bathroom and Laundry Renovation. If you’re contracting for this type of work valued at more than $5,000 in labour and materials (including GST), you need this licence. Fines for unlicensed work can reach $22,000 for individuals and $110,000 for companies under the Home Building Act 1989.
Is RPL a real qualification?
Yes. RPL produces the same outcome as completing the units through traditional study, a Statement of Attainment issued by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). It’s nationally recognised and accepted by QBCC and other licensing bodies as evidence of your technical qualifications.
Everthought Education is a registered RTO (RTO 32438). The units we assess are from the CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction, the exact units required by the QBCC and NSW licensing bodies for this licence class. Kitchen bathroom laundry RPL isn’t a shortcut, it’s a formal, ASQA-regulated assessment process.

Good experience. The RPL process was explained very well and all evidence was set out and mapped in next to no time. 2 weeks from the initial contact, to explanation, phone call appointment to application acceptance and evidence mapped and submitted, certificate given and QBCC license granted.
